MUSG to host Fr. Wild Forum

Marquette University Student Government will host its biannual presidential forum with interim president Rev. Robert A. Wild, S.J., on Wednesday, Nov. 20, at 7 p.m. in the first floor lobby of the Alumni Memorial Union.

Presidential forums give students a unique opportunity to ask direct questions to the university’s president. In this time of transitional leadership, students may have uncertainties regarding Marquette’s future. With a 15-year tenure as Marquette’s 22nd president, Fr. Wild is well equipped and eager to answer student questions and address concerns.

Fr. Wild was selected to serve as interim president after the resignation of Rev. Scott R. Pilarz, S.J. on Sept. 20. “I left Marquette for two years, but my heart has always been here. As Jesuits, we are called to serve where we are needed, and I’m hopeful my past experience will help move the university forward in this time of transition,” Fr. Wild said in a Marquette University news release.

During his 1996-2011 leadership, Fr. Wild challenged Marquette to consider the unique aspects of a Jesuit education, resulting in the university’s four pillar mission of excellence, faith, leadership and service.

Fr. Wild also helped to raise funds to increase scholarships and propel university construction projects, including the development of Raynor Memorial Libraries, Zilber Hall, Eckstein Hall, the Al McGuire Center and Engineering Hall. Wild is slated to hold the role of interim president until August 2014.

Interim provost Dr. Margaret Faut Callahan will also attend the forum and be available to answer student questions.

MUSG highly encourages students to attend both the Fr. Wild Forum on Wednesday, Nov. 20, and the Presidential Search Student Input Session on Wednesday, Nov. 13 at 4 p.m. in AMU Ballroom E. Both events represent opportunities for students to voice concerns, share input and directly impact the future of Marquette.
