Student groups hosting Earth Week, promoting eco-friendly behaviorPosted: April 16, 2013
MILWAUKEE (April 16, 2013) – Students for an Environmentally Active Campus and Marquette University Student Government are hosting Earth Week, an entire week of eco-friendly related events. The week of activities kicks off on Earth Day, Monday April 22 and will continue through April 26.
On Monday a Clothing Swap will take place on the second floor of the Alumni Memorial Union from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. A Sustainable Living Fair will also take place on Monday in the MU Dental School from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Venders and booths will be provided by the Dental Students for Sustainability. On Tuesday, April 23 a pedal powered movie will take place on Schroeder Field at 8 p.m. The movie “Despicable Me” will be powered solely by bikes courtesy of the Marquette University Cycling Club. In addition the movie, there will be a speaker from the Wisconsin Humane Society to discuss bat population in the state of Wisconsin.
On Wednesday, stop by Central Mall from 4:30-5:30 p.m. to tie dye a free Earth Week t-shirt and listen to Dr. McGee Young speak on water preservation. Other activities include free outdoor yoga on Schroder Field from 4-5 p.m. on Thursday, April 24. On Friday, April 25, there will be tree planting, poetry reading and a tree walk behind the Lalumiere Academic Building.
Don’t miss out on all of this environmental excitement! The events are free, no ticket required, and open to all Marquette students.
